Your journey begins as you arrive in Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel where you can rest and prepare for the upcoming expedition.
Today, you’ll receive a warm welcome, undergo gear checks, and complete the necessary official formalities. This is a crucial step to ensure that you have all the required equipment and permits for a successful expedition.
A scenic flight takes you from Islamabad to Skardu, a picturesque town nestled in the mountains. This flight offers stunning views of the Himalayas, and upon arrival in Skardu, you’ll acclimatize to the higher altitude.
Today is a well-deserved rest day in Skardu. You’ll receive a detailed expedition briefing and have time to make final preparations, ensuring that you’re ready for the challenges ahead.
A scenic drive from Skardu takes you to Askole, the starting point of your trek. The journey allows you to witness the changing landscape as you approach the mountains.
Your trekking adventure commences with a hike from Askole to Jhola. As you ascend, you’ll notice the terrain becoming more rugged, and you’ll have your first taste of the trekking experience.
The trek continues, taking you to Paiyu. Along the way, you’ll be captivated by the natural beauty of the region, with majestic mountain views and lush valleys.
Paiyu offers a stunning backdrop for a rest day. You can recuperate, explore the surroundings, and prepare mentally for the challenges ahead.
The trek resumes, leading you to Urdukas. As you gain altitude, you’ll notice the landscape changing, with more rugged terrain and increasing elevation.
Your journey takes you from Urdukas to Goro II, getting you closer to the base of Gasherbrum II. The terrain becomes more challenging as you ascend.
Continuing your trek, you’ll move from Goro II to Shagharing, a stage that prepares you for the final push to the basecamp.
Today, you’ll reach the Gasherbrum II Basecamp. This is a significant milestone as you prepare for the climbing phase of the expedition.
The heart of the expedition. During these days, you’ll embark on the challenging ascent of Gasherbrum II, reaching the summit at 8,035 meters above sea level. This is the pinnacle of the expedition.
After the successful summit, it’s time to clean up the base camp and prepare for the descent. This stage is essential for leaving the mountain environment pristine.
You’ll begin your descent, trekking back to Goro II, retracing your steps from the climbing phase.
Your trek continues as you descend from Goro II to Khuburtze, gradually leaving the higher altitudes.
Descending further, you’ll make your way from Khuburtze to Mundung, enjoying the changing scenery.
Your trekking adventure concludes as you return to Askole, marking the end of your mountain journey.
You’ll drive back from Askole to Skardu, reflecting on the incredible experience you’ve had in the mountains.
You’ll take a flight from Skardu to Islamabad and be transferred to your hotel, where you can rest and prepare for your journey home.
